I attended a Chamber of Commerce meeting today at 7am. The highlight of this meeting was to showcase the possible partnerships that could be created between colleges and businesses. One of those highlights was internships. Internships can be one of the best ways for a student or new professional to gain experience.
There was a student representative on that panel along with 3 institutions. The student was a senior in college and was graduating in May. She had gone through 3 internships while in college. And because of those experiences, she was socialized to the essentials of the corporate world focusing on marketing, advertising, fundraising and building relationships. It was obvious that this girl was highly equipped with the right tools to be successful (drive, work ethic, proactiveness, great non verbals and spoke clearly and confidently).
I can’t emphasize enough the importance of creating these partnerships. And even more importantly, I can’t emphasize enough the value of students taking advantage of these opportunities. If you have any questions about the process of landing an internship, shoot us an email. We will be posting a few blogs on the internship process.
